294 cases of HIV/Aids
This has been confirmed by the Health Ministry after holding a number of meetings with the National Advisory Committee on AIDS reviewing its strategies, objectives and activities.
Spokesperson Iliesa Tora said four new cases were detected this year.
Tora said figures released reveal that 62.5 percent of those who have HIV/AIDS are males with females making up 28.4 percent.
He added people in the 20 to 29 year old age bracket have the highest number with 134 while there are 87 for those in the 30 to 39 year old bracket.
The National Advisory Committee on AIDS or NACA undertook a review to ensure that potential HIV cases are prevented, that many most at risk individuals are counseled, that testing is available to those who need it and that those who have been diagnosed with HIV are provided with treatment, care and support without any stigma or discrimination.
