Fiji will have to produce over 280,000 tonnes of sugar to fulfill the quota for the European Union by next year.
Fiji Sugar Marketing Chief Executive Viliame Savou is hopeful the quota will be met as Fiji has ample time.
Meanwhile, Fiji will be importing over 40,000 tonnes of sugar this year for local consumption.
Savou said all sugar produced this year will be exported to EU countries to fulfill their quota.
Meanwhile, the Fiji Sugar Marketing Authority has confirmed that there has been a decline of over $100 million in export earnings since 1995, when Fiji had the highest export earnings of more than $279 million.
