The number of rape and sexual assault cases continues to be a major concern as there were 25 reported cases of rape and sexual assaults in September.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions confirms that 14 people were charged with a total of 25 separate incidents last month.
There were 17 cases of rape, 1 case of indecent assault and 7 cases of sexual assault.
The youngest victim was 4-years-old and the accused was her 47-year-old grandfather.
In 7 of the cases, the victims were related to the accused person.
The DPP’s Office says that there was one serious sexual offence where the accused impregnated his niece.
9 victims of serious sexual offences were under the age of 18 years while there were two accused under the age of 18 years.
