24,400 people under the Family Assistance Program will be receiving $30 food vouchers a month under the Food Voucher Program which is to start in early March.

The National Planning Office said right now the highest number of recipients is 5,800 from the Northern Division which comprises of Bua, Labasa, Nabouwalu, Savusavu, Seaqaqa, Wainikoro and Waiyevo.

The Office said the food vouchers are to give the recipient the ability to choose from a range of items of their choice.

The Government has sent out an expression of interest for interested parties to form a partnership with government to implement the program taking into account the interested party's ability to ensure that a range of approved food products are available from local collection points and on time.

The National Planning Office said after they receive the expressions of interest, three weeks will be needed to study the submissions and fine tune it after which it will be implemented.
