24 teams have been confirmed for the ‘Great Eight’ 7s which is a qualifying tournament for the Coral Coast Sevens.

Chairman Jay Whyte said registrations closed over the weekend and the Great Eight tournament would feature a star-studded line-up of teams.

Teams such as 2010 winners Red Rock, last year's runners-up Police and Samurai who are all keen to play for the $65,000 in prize money two weeks later.

The top eight teams from the Great Eight tournament will join reigning champions Wardens, and other teams like Sunnybank and Otago University in the 3rd annual Coral Coast Sevens in November.

The Great Eight 7s tournament will be held on the 2nd and 3rd of November at Lawaqa park.

Tickets for Fiji's Coral Coast Sevens will go on sale next month.
