Nadroga rugby speed merchant Apisalome Waqatabu has forced his way into the 24-member Digicel Fiji Sevens squad to prepare for the first leg of the IRB World Sevens Series.

Six players from last season managed to make the cut which includes Setefano Cakau, Levani Botia, Joji Ragamate, Timoci Vakadranu, Ilai Tinai and Osea Kolinisau.

Some of the other newcomers in the squad include Nadroga forwards Ulaiasi Lawavou and Apisai Domolailai.

Lautoka’s Dan Rawaqa is also making a return to the 7s squad.  

Meanwhile, hard hitting Watisoni Votu has been left out of the team despite showing his availability.

The 24-member squad will march into camp next Tuesday after which the final 12-member team is expected to be named two weeks prior to the start of the series.

The first leg of the IRB Sevens Series will be on the 13th and 14th of next month in Gold Coast. F

Fiji is the defending champion.
