The Prices and Incomes Board has confirmed that twenty four traders and two landlords were convicted and fined by the Magistrates Courts around the country for breaching price and rent control regulations during the month of June and July this year.

The offences include selling price control items at an excessive price, failing to mark and display retail prices, failing to keep to the satisfaction of the board records including letting agreements and receipts and the illegal increases in rent.

Traders and landlords convicted by the magistrates court were imposed fines between $30 upto $2000 and were also ordered to pay court costs.

There were 65 complaints received by PIB during the last two months.
