A 21 year old diver has lost his life at sea.
Police Spokesperson Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed the incident happened at Nananu-i-ra in Rakiraki yesterday morning.
Sokomuri said the 21 year old and a 56 year old fisherman had gone for beach-de-mer diving when the 56 year old noticed that the 21 year old was having difficulty breathing.
Sokomuri said the 56 year old tried to assist him and rushed him to Rakiraki hospital however he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
The drowning toll now stands at 22 compared to 33 last year.
