An alarming 218 suicide cases were reported for last year.

Of this, 22 were aged between 1 to 16, 66 were aged between 17 to 25 and 130 were above the age of 25.

To counter this increasing number of suicide cases, the Ministry of Health today organised a workshop for its Doctors, divisions primarily to educate them in detecting patients who intend to commit suicide.

National Advisor for Non Communicable Diseases, Dr Isimeli Tukana highlighted that this workshop was necessary as the suicide numbers have increased in the previous years.

According to Dr.Tukana the workshop will enable Doctors to help those patients who have lost faith in life.
