Team Fiji will be fielding a total of twenty one athletes in the Oceania Weightlifting Championships starting today.
Fiji Weightlifting President, Atma Maharaj said that this is the biggest event Fiji will be hosting and they will be fielding young but very strong squad.
Maharaj said that with all other countries already in the country and training, Fiji is banking on Manueli Tulo, Joe Vueti and Maria Liku for a win, however they are not taking any other sides lightly.
President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau will be officially opening the Championships this evening at 6pm with the first competition starting in the 50 - 56kg category where Fiji's Manueli Tulo will be taking part.
The Oceania Weightlifting Championships will be held from today until the 7th of May at the Yat Sen Secondary Hall.
