The Education Ministry has revealed that they have retained a total of 21 senior teachers to assist new teachers only until the end of the year.
Permanent secretary Filipe Jitoko said that they have assessed the situation and these teachers will be kept for training purposes and released once they have carried out their job.
However, Jitoko added that the Future Leaders Workshop will be carried out throughout the next school term for the new graduate teachers that will replace the 776 retired teachers.
Yesterday, 120 teachers from the east and the west started their Future Leaders Program training workshop in Nasinu.
In total, 192 retirees have signed contracts and are continuing their work in various departments and ministries.
