A total of 2,083 drivers were booked for various traffic infringements ranging from speeding to drunk driving in less than a month.

Figures provided by the police force reveals that during their operation for Christmas and New year which started on 16th of December, 1102 drivers were booked for speeding.

Seventy nine drivers were booked for careless driving while 819 drivers were booked for other offences which included driving without a license and not wearing seat belts.

Meanwhile, a total of 12,865 drivers were tested of which 85 were found to be driving under the influence of liquor.

This also includes five bus drivers who were arrested in Wailekutu, Lami on New Years day.

Police the operation will continue for some time to clamp down on those drivers who are breaking the law.
