The Education Ministry has directed $200,000 to assist the Lautoka Primary School resume classes.

Minister Filipe Bole said the recent fire at the school has tragically left the students, teachers and the school management wondering how to rebuild the school, and $150,000 of the money will be used for reconstruction while $50,000 will be used in purchasing furniture and books.

Bole said construction work is expected to start soon to allow children to occupy their new classrooms when school starts in January next year.

The school has a roll of 591 students including the kindergarten and 16 teachers.

The fire affected 385 children including the kindergarten school, who are now staying home until further notice from the management.
