200 Stranded In Ba
Resident Sanjeet Maharaj said majority of the areas are flooded and flood waters are rising at a dramatic rate.
Meanwhile, about 200 people are stranded in Ba after the Moto Bridge got washed away this afternoon.
A shopkeeper, Rajnesh Chand has confirmed that these people were out to Ba town howver when they returned the bridge got washed away. There is about six feet of water on the Moto Bridge.
The Namosau Bridge is under water and closed to all traffic and the Valayalalevu Bridge is under 2 feet of water as well as the Koronubu flats.
Yalalevu Resident Moti Maharaj said that the flood waters are rising rapidly and people are not safe.
Meanwhile, Matawalu village in Lautoka is under water with the surrounding road and bridges under four feet of waters as the high tide this evening swamped their village with flood waters.
Lautoka Police have confirmed this adding that the villagers from Viwa Island have been evacuated as well.
The Natabua Flats are under 2 feet of water, Luvu seaside is also under 4 feet of water. Residents have been evacuated to Lautoka Teachers College
In Sigatoka, the Emori Bridge is under 4 feet of Water, from kavanigasau road to Lokia and can only be accessed by Four wheel drives as well as the Valley Road.
In Keiyasi, Tuboro Bridge, Mataono Bridge and the Reva Bridge road are under four feet of water.
In Tavua, the yalano flats have jut flooded and is closed to all traffic.
In Vatukoula, roads in town are closed to traffic as flood waters have entered the town.
Back up in the Northern division, the roads from Nabalebale Westcoast to Valeni is closed to all traffic.
Roko Tui Cakaudrove, Ratu Veli Tokaduadua confirms they are currently experiencing heavy rain in Savusavu and three houses in Naiqaqi village is under water and the villagers have been advised to move to higher grounds.
Meanwhile the Irish Crossing at Waivunia village was washed away this morning which was confirmed by the Village headman.
Tokaduadua said the Anglican church Hall, Savusavu Secondary school and Khemendra Bhartiya School are now open as evacuation centres for people who are affected.
