A two year old boy is the latest fatality after he was hit by a taxi at Yasiyasi Rd in Kinoya last night.

Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra confirmed the boy was standing on the roadside with some other people when the incident happened.

The taxi driver was taken into custody last night as police believe he was under the influence of alcohol.

Charges are expected to be laid soon.

Police will give more information later today.

Meanwhile, yesterday at the Fiji Taxi Union Annual General Meeting Police revealed that more than 12,000 public service drivers were booked last year for various road offences.

At the meeting Mishra, stressed that Public service drivers need to change their attitude and make Fiji roads safer for the general public.
