Lautoka police are questioning two men in relation to a stabbing incident in Lautoka last night.

Assistant police spokesperson Sergeant Suliano Tevita confirmed that a 54 year old and a 70 year old were sleeping in the house when these two men, a 36 year old and a 41 year old, entered the house forcefully and started assaulting the two elderly men.

Sergeant Tevita said that one of the suspects struck the victims with a cane knife and they are now admitted at the Lautoka Hospital with serious injuries.

The two were drunk at the time of the incident.

The two men alleged that one of the elderly men was practicing witchcraft.

Meanwhile, police will now liaise with the DPP's office to decide on the charges that can be laid against a 45 year old man of Nadi who allegedly assaulted his 17 year old relative over the weekend.

Divisional crime officer western SP Luke Rawalai has confirmed that they will consult the DPP's office after the post mortem report of the deceased revealed that he died of an asthma attack.

According to Rawalai, the suspect was last seen allegedly assaulting the 17 year old, who was later pronounced dead upon arrival at the Nadi Hospital.
