Two new foreign companies will be given the green light to run the Vatukoula Gold Mine if no agreement is reached with Westech today.

Interim Land and Mineral Resources Minister, Tevita Vuibau confirms a company from the United Kingdom and the other from Canada has shown interest in operating the mines. He refused to reveal further details about the companies.

Vuibau added that final talks with Westech are expected to be held later today.

He said some important issues are still pending to be resolved with Westech.

The Interim government called for expressions of interest from companies to operate the mines after talks with Westech was prolonged.
