Two men are in police custody for allegedly being in possession of seven fake $50 notes, all carrying the same serial number CA 835-275.
A 16 year old teenager gave a fake $50 note to a 20 year old supermarket cashier at Votualevu. The matter was reported to police and during the cause of investigation, a 25 year old woman of Votualevu was located, searched and seven fake notes were recovered from her.
As investigations intensified, another two men, a 39 year old taxi driver of Tacirua and a 39 year old baker of Raiwaqa were arrested at Votualevu for alleged circulation of fake notes.
The 16 year old teenager and 25 year old woman have been interviewed and released pending further investigations while the two 39 year old suspects are in custody at the Namaka Police and are expected to appear in court on Monday.
Investigations continue.
