Two major upsets have been recorded so far in the Uprising Fiji International Sevens that is currently underway at the TFL Stadium.
The first upset was created by the Noa Nadruku coached Ratu Filise side after they beat New Zealand Provincial Sevens champions Auckland Invitational by 15-0.
Ratu Filise coach Noa Nadruku said that the win has really boosted their morale.
Ratu Filise’s remaining pool matches are against the FMF Fiji Warriors at 2.34pm and URF Wardens at 5.08pm.
Ratu Filise features Namatakula players and also features Leveni and Kaliova Tani, who are the sons of the late former Fiji rep Vili Tani.
The Jim Beam Uprising team coached by Renee Munch created another major upset when they beat Samoa Invitational by 19-7.
The Samoa Invitational side features Mikaele Pesamino and other Samoan reps like Leslie Poulava and Simaika Mikaele.
The URF Wardens also beat the Emosi Vucago captained FMF Fiji Warriors by 27-14.
Wardens coach Timoci Wainiqolo said the team is determined to beat Auckland in their next game.
In other results, LICI Police beat Samurai Barracudas 21-10, defending champions Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre Red Rock thrashed Ilivasi Tabua’s Island Breeze 40-0 and Aussie Thunderbolts beat Blue Gas Lautoka 22-7.
The Digicel Fiji Barbarians featuring Setefano Cakau, Livai Ikanikoda, Osea Kolinisau and Metuisela Talebula beat Jokhan Realtors Marist by 24-5.
