Police are still compiling relevant details regarding the two men who lost their lives at sea early this morning.
The search is ongoing for a third man.
The men were aboard the “Kaiwai” landing barge when it sank.
Police Spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirms that Police received a report that the barge with a 12 member crew left Lautoka Wharf for Bukama Island in Yasawa.
Nine of the crew managed to safely reach Logana Island.
Naisoro says Police will be working with the Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji and other relevant maritime authorities to investigate this incident.
Meanwhile, All Engineering (Fiji) Ltd, the company that owns the landing barge, Kaiwai has said that they would not comment at this stage.
