Two men are in police custody in relation to the alleged murder of 49 year old security officer Sheik Mohammed Hassan in Naqere, Savusavu, on Sunday night.
Director Police Operations SSP Waisea Tabakau said these two men were arrested somewhere in Viti Levu this morning after they escaped from Vanua Levu yesterday.
Police are now conducting a national manhunt for other suspects.
Tabakau said it is too early to say when charges will be laid against the two suspects as this will depend on the nature of the investigations.
Meanwhile, police are also questioning some people in Savusavu for more information on the case.
Sheik Hassan was guarding the sawmill premises when three masked men broke in and allegedly assaulted him after tying him up.
The men then went inside the house of the sawmill owner who is a Korean national and also tied him up.
They then fled with more than $14,000 cash.
