2 die in road accidents
A 43 year old farmer of Koroqaqa, Ba, died after he was trapped under the tractor he was driving when it tumbled at Vakacoko Excess road last night.
The deceased was on his way to the farm in his tractor when the tractor slipped and tumbled into a creek. The deceased died instantly and was found trapped underneath the tractor.
Meanwhile, a 45 year old driver of Raviravi, Ba, died after the minivan he was driving veered off the road, bumped a steel railing and tumbled at Yalalevu along the Kings road yesterday.
The deceased was travelling alone in the van at the time of the accident. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Ba Mission hospital.
In another accident yesterday a 26 year old driver of Sawani died instantly after the metro-mix truck he was driving went off the road and tumbled twice in Logani, Tailevu yesterday afternoon.
The driver was on his way to Korovou when he lost control of the truck at the Logani bend and went off the road.
According to police, the truck loaded with cement and stones tumbled twice and the deceased was trapped under the truck. The national road death toll is now 51 compared to 74 for the same period last year.
