Two people died in two separate roads accidents last night.

An 84 year old man of Nadi was bumped by a private car in Malolo Nadi last night.

The 84 year old died instantly.

Police are questioning the 33 year old driver of the private car.

He was going towards Lautoka when the accident took police.

In another incident a 40 year old farmer of Qamea Island died after he was hit by a bus in Qarawalu, Taveuni yesterday.

He was taken to the Taveuni hospital where he passed away.

The 37 year old bus driver is in police custody.

Police are awaiting the post mortem report of both the victims.

The road death toll is now 18 compared to 10 during the same period last year.

Meanwhile a total of thirty drivers were arrested for drunk and drive this long weekend.

Director Traffic SSP Mahesh Mishra said there were 547 traffic related offences.

Mishra said the thirty drivers arrested for drunk and drive has already appeared in court.

Meanwhile, Traffic Police recorded a total of 293 cases of speeding, 35 cases of careless driving, 25 not wearing of seat belts and 194 other traffic related offences including illegal operations.
