Two people died in two separate diving incidents yesterday.
Police believes that both victims drowned.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro says the first incident was reported at the Kadavu Police Station where a farmer left home on Friday night to dive in nearby waters at about 8pm and failed to return home.
Naisoro said the victim’s wife informed a 41-year-old diving instructor of a nearby resort, whereby a search was conducted and which the farmer’s body was found floating in a mangrove swamp near Togoni Settlement.
In the second incident an 18-year-old of Malevu Village in Nadroga left out for a diving expedition on Friday night and failed to return home.
Naisoro said his body was found 100 meters away from the beach by villagers of Malevu yesterday.
He was taken to the Sigatoka Hospital and was pronounced dead.
Post mortem for both incidents will be conducted to determine the cause of death as investigations continue.
