Two police officers have been found guilty for the murder of Tevita Malasebe while another has been found guilty of accessory to murder by High Court Judge Justice Nazhat Shameem this afternoon.

Lole Vulaca and Rusiate Korovusere have been found guilty of murder while Sergeant Pita Matai has been found guilty of accessory to murder. The rest of the five accused have been acquitted.

Vulaca and Korovusere have been held responsible for taking Malasebe from his house to Valelevu Police Station on June 4th last year and assaulted him to death at the Crime Office.

Justice Shameem has adjourned the case till 9am tomorrow for mitigation hearing before the three are sentenced.

Soon after the ruling, defense lawyer John Semisi said he does not agree with the judgement and will file an appeal in due time.

Meanwhile, two of the assessors in the trial found the three men guilty while one assessor found all the men guilty which was overturned by Judge Shameem.
