An 18 year old boy has been admitted to the CWM Hospital in critical condition after the van he was travelling in veered off the road at Waibau near Sawani on its way to Suva yesterday afternoon.

Police have confirmed the driver of the van was drunk and has been taken into custody.

Together with the 18 year old boy, six other people were sitting in the van, they sustained some injuries but were sent home after treatment.

Police said the driver lost control of the van which tumbled three times before going off the road.

Meanwhile, the FIT student that was hit by a Raiwaqa bus on Monday is still admitted in hospital with lower body injuries which may require surgery.

The Land Transport Authority is still carrying out its investigations as to why the Raiwaqa bus was speeding, did not stop and veered off the road.
