A total of 17,500 Fiji passports will begin to be issued from next Wednesday.

People who applied for a passport in the first week of January will be the first to receive theirs on Wednesday.

For those who applied in the second week of January, expect your passport to be given the following day, Thursday and so forth.

If you have paid $76 for a normal application lodge however wish to receive it urgently on the same day, then an addition $114 will need to be paid.

If you have lost or have a mutilated passport, it will cost $304 for same day new passport issue.

Immigration Director Nemani Vuniwaqa said that his department will be working overtime to deliver passports in the quickest time frame.
