A $170 million dollar loan from the China Government has been secured for the development of rural roads in the country.

Director for Development Cooperation and the PM's Office Facilitation Division, Seremaia Tuiteci said the money will be used for the development and upgrading of roads in the interior of Tailevu, Naitasiri, Nadroga and Ba.

He said this includeds the sealing of the Valley Roads right up to Keiyasi in Nadroga adding a number of Chinese Road Engineers will be in Fiji next month to inspect the rural road conditions.

He adds by then the first $50 million will be expected to be released by the Chinese government for the first phase of work.
