170 nurses guaranteed jobs next year
This is under the National Nursing Establishment for 2010 to 2012, which will see 510 nurses from the Fiji School of Nursing and the Sangam Nursing School getting immediate employment.
Health Ministry Spokesperson Illiesa Tora said since the setting up of the Private Nursing School in Labasa, the Health Ministry had signed a Memorandum of Understanding that ensures that the students undergo the same training as the Fiji School of Nursing.
Tora also added that the Review shows that these graduates will be absorbed straight into the workforce as they already have six months practical experience.
In totality, 170 new graduate nurses per year will be recruited over the next three years and this basically means that all those that pass through the program for the next three years are guaranteed a job.
In the first phase of the recruitment, 50 graduate nurses from the Labasa school while 120 from the FSN, will start work next year with 170 graduates over the next three years.
