Sixteen million dollars has been collected in Road User Levy for this year alone and this will be used for road upgrades around the country.

The road user levy which is being handled by the Land Transport Authority and the Finance Ministry was introduced in January last year in the National Budget and this sees vehicles of different engine sizes being taxed.

This levy will then be used for the upgrade of roads and infrastructure and has been allocated to the Central Coordinating Agency for Roads.

Agency Spokesperson Sainiana Waqainabete said following the upgrade of seven roads in Wailada, this money is being looked at for the upgrade of roads in the certain areas in the Western Division.
