Police arrested 16 people in Sigatoka yesterday for allegedly breaching the Public Emergency Regulation.

Divisional Crime Officer Western ASP Luke Rawalai confirmed the 16 were conducting a meeting at a school without a permit.

They were taken to the Sigatoka Police station for questioning and have been released.

Rawalai is urging members of the public to seek approval from Police if they are intending to conduct public meetings.

Meanwhile, no minors will be allowed to enter nightclubs this year and those found inside will be dealt with.

This is the warning from Deputy Director Police Operations SP Erami Raibe who said they will come down hard on nightclub operators who allow minors inside.
