A 15-year-old record has been broken by a Suva Grammar School athlete in the Suva Zone Two Athletics meet which is currently underway at the Post Fiji stadium.

Lepani Naivalu set a new record in the Junior Boys 100 meters this morning when he finished his race in a time of 10.90 seconds. The old record in 1993 was set by Marist Brothers Sione Fa was 11.67 seconds.

Another record came in the Inter Boys 400 meters heats. Warasiko Toge of Lomary Secondary broke the record in a time of 51.7 seconds while the old record was 51.74 seconds set by Atunaisa Veisa of Marist Brothers in 1999.

Toge will again try to break the record in the 400 meters final this afternoon but will be challenged by Suva Grammar's Eroni Cagi who also advanced into the final after winning his race in a time of 51.9 seconds.

Meanwhile Marist Brothers leads the Suva Zone 2 boys division Fijivillage medal tally with 4 gold, 4 silver and 3 bronze. Suva Grammar is in second place with 2 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze while Gospel High is in third place with 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.

In the Girls division Suva Grammar leads with 2 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze while Saint Joseph and Laucala Bay Secondary are tied in second place with 1 gold each.
