A 15 year old student of Legalega, Nadi, is the latest victim of drowning.
Police have confirmed the 15 year old was washing clothes with her aunt when she decided to swim in the Legalega river with other friends at around 5.30pm.
The victim was swept away by strong currents and her body was found a few metres away from where she was swimming.
A post mortem is expected to be conducted today.
The drowning toll is now 12 compared to 9 during the same period last year.
