Close to fourteen students of Ba Methodist School are off on an educational field trip to New Zealand thanks to a drive by former students based abroad.

According to the School, these Form five and six students who hail from the Yasawa Islands and from the interior of Ba, Naitasiri and Nadroga have never been out of the country, let alone on a plane and are making history by being the first batch of students from the school to travel abroad.

These students are studying Geography in School and will be heading to New Zealand for two weeks where they will visit historical sites and also be visiting the Fijian community on North Island.

Ex-Scholar and one of the organisers for the Trip, Asenaca Delaibatiki, speaking to Newslink said they have fundraised for the students and have also been receiving donations to pay for the group's accommodation, transport and other costs.

The group, consisting of 14 students, 3 teachers and a parent are expected to be traditionally welcomed by the Mangere Township in three days time and will return to Fiji on the 3rd of next month.
