Representatives of 14 countries will attend the Engaging With the Pacific meeting hosted by Fiji today.

This meeting is being held ahead of the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum which will be held in Cook Islands next week.

Fiji will not be part of that forum as it remains suspended from it.

However, the focus is on Fiji today and tomorrow as top leaders and senior officials from Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, PNG, Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, French Polynesia, Kiribati, Marshall Islands, Nauru, New Caledonia, Timor Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu, Kazakstan and Kosovo attend the meeting.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama will open the meeting in Nadi later this morning.

Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum will then brief the countries on Fiji’s progress towards constitutional democracy and elections.

The theme for this year’s meet will be “Strengthening Partnerships amongst Pacific Small Island Developing States.”
