A 14 year old girl from Siberia, Labasa, died in a road accident last night.

Police spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed the accident occurred in Wainikoro at about 9 o'clock last night and the driver of the car is believed to have fled the scene.

Sokomuri said the girl was accompanied by another 16 year old girl who is admitted in critical condition at Labasa Hospital.

Police said the driver failed to negotiate a bend which resulted in the car going off the road and tumbling twice.

Police at this stage do not have the identity of the driver and are hunting for him.

The three were heading towards Labasa town when the accident occurred.

The road death toll now stands at 63 compared to 51 for the same period last year.
