14 Year Old Raped
According to police, she was on her way to the plantation when a boy from the same village dragged her to nearby bush before raping her.
Her parents took her down in a punt from the village to Navua Police Station this morning and reported the matter to police, who are currently interviewing her before she will be taken to CWM hospital for medical examinations.
Police are on their way to Navua to arrest the suspect.
According to police statistics, Serua and Namosi have the largest number of rape cases in 2007.
Meanwhile, the Police Search and Rescue Team is searching for a mother and her little daughter who went fishing early this morning outside Naivi reef near Navutuloa in Namosi and last seen drifting out to open sea.
Assistant Police spokesperson, Josaia Waicavu said police were alerted about the incident by passengers of another boat who returned to land safely this morning and mariners have been alerted to rescue the woman and her child.
