Fiji loses an estimated $13 million a year due to the 12 public holidays celebrated in the country.
At the 2010 budget consultations, the Fiji Employers Federation President Digby Bossley called on the government to seriously review the number of public holidays in Fiji.
Bossley reiterates that the businesses and the economy suffers and incurs losses due to the public holidays as employees get their full pay.
Bossley believes the National Youth Day public holiday is something that can be removed.
