The Festival of Lights will be special for thirteen disadvantage families after receiving food ration from the Poor Relief Society.
Society President, Sabita Gandhi said these families mostly live in the Nasinu Nausori area and those people who are being assisted are between 55 to 92 years of age .
She also said that some of the people have either being deserted or are sickly.
As Diwali is around the corner and just one month away from the festive season, the Health Ministry is calling on people to watch what they consume.
The National Advisor for Non Communicable Disease, Dr Isimeli Tukana said that the number of NCD cases in the country is increasing which is becoming a major concern for the Ministry.
Dr Tukana said controlling ones diet help in the old age.
