Social Welfare officers are expected to interview the 12 year old boy from kadavu who has been charged with the alleged rape of a 4 year old girl.
Interim Minister for Women and Social Welfare, Adi Laufitu Malani told Village news that she expects a detailed report on the incident as it is a great concern considering the age of the boy.
And the largest indigenous women’s organization in the country, the Soqosoqo Vakamarama General Secretary Adi Finau Tabakaucoro said the question that also needs to be asked is why a child was left alone in the first place.
The Soqosoqo Vakamarama plans to conduct an awareness campaign as Adi Finau said many of their members are from the villages and therefore they will be able to reach the grass root levels.
Kadavu police charged the 12 year old for allegedly raping the 4 year old girl last week while two 15 year old students were taken into custody for allegedly being involved in the gang rape of a 19 year old girl.
