The Fiji Police Force has revealed that more than 12,000 public service drivers were booked last year for various road offences.
Director Traffic, SSP Mahesh Mishra who spoke at the Fiji Taxi Union Annual General meeting today stressed that Public service drivers need to change their attitude and make Fiji roads more safer for the general public.
However General Secretary Rishi Ram said that most of the drivers were doubled booked for offences which resulted in the large number of offenders.
While opening the Fiji Taxi Union Annual General Meeting this morning, the Acting Permanent Secretary in the Transport Ministry, Malakai Tadulala revealed the Ministry is in the process of reviewing the transport sector and its stakeholders.
Tadulala also confirmed a review on LTA is ongoing as they are now focusing on improving road conditions throughout the country.
Meanwhile during the AGM this morning, Vincent Singh was reappointed as the President of the Fiji Taxi Union with Rishi Ram unanimously voted back into office as the General Secretary.
