Twelve schools including the Lautoka Teachers College are now confirmed to be infested with termites and new marquees will be set up for two infested schools in Lautoka.

Senior Bio-Security Officer West Lemeki Ratucicivi said the new marquees are being earmarked for Ami Chand Memorial School and Ahmadiyya Muslim, adding the marquees were purchased especially for use by students of termite affected schools and is only a temporary measure until bait stations are in place and affected structures placed.

Ratucicivi said the taskforce personnel will also be involved in the pink primer painting of timber to be used in replacing infested structures in schools, while another will put in place temporary floors to marquees in Qalitu Primary School.

So far 516 homes and 12 schools are now confirmed to be infested with termites.
