A 12 year old boy has died after the vehicle he was travelling in veered off the road and tumbled down a slope.
The incident took place at Lomaloma, Savusavu, along the Labasa/Savusavu Highway.
The victim was a passenger in the truck heading towards Labasa. The truck was descending a hill when the driver lost control.
The victim was thrown out through the windscreen and died at the scene.
Police are awaiting the post mortem report. The road death toll now stands at 28 compared to 40 during the same period last year.
