111 defaulting employers names submitted to immigration
FNPF CEO Aisake Taito said the total number of employers with outstanding contributions stands at 1,287, and a total of 41 employers have made a time payment arrangement during the period whereby FNPF had given 10 working days for employers to clear outstanding contributions owed to their workers from 24th May to 4th June.
Taito said 111 employer names have been forward to the Immigration Department and a total of 35 Employers have been referred for Prosecution for the month of May which include ongoing cases.
Taito added most employers that owe large debts have been in contact with the Fund, mostly those who are directors who consistently travel out of Fiji for business overseas.
The FNPF had given 10 working days for employers to clear outstanding FNPF contributions owed to their workers and make arrangements to settle their accounts, otherwise names will be forwarded to the Director of Immigration for further action.
The total figure owed by employers for unpaid contributions for the financial year 2009 stands at more than $7million.
