The 20 year old Nadi man charged with raping a 74 year old was today sent to jail for 11 years.

Josaia Wakawale Tabua, who pleaded guilty on Sunday in a special Court sitting, appeared this morning before Magistrate Nazeem Sahu Khan, who was informed that on the 4th of March, Tabua forcefully entered the house of a 74 year old elderly woman and threatened her before robbing her of $150 cash and raping her.

Meanwhile, a Navua man charged with four counts of defiling a fifteen year old girl will be sentenced next Tuesday in the Navua Court.

The man was today found guilty by Suva Magistrate Mesake Wakanivonoloa on all charges and has been remanded in custody.

The girl revealed in Court during the trial that she was raped for the first time by the accused on 27th December 2007.

It was also revealed in Court the man is related to the girl and was married during the time of the incident.

The girl was defiled when she was between thirteen and sixteen years of age on four occasions.
