A 11 year old boy drowned while swimming with his friends in the Waidina river yesterday afternoon.
Assistant Spokesperson, Sergeant Suliano Tevita said the Class 6 student was swimming in the river after school when he was swept away by strong currents.
His body was found a few metres away from where he was swimming.
The drowning toll for this year now stands at five compared to nine during the same period last year.
