Close to 11 tonnes of marijuana plants were confiscated in the last few days from the highlands of Navosa, which now sits at the Navosa Police station.

The samples have been sent to Koronivia Research station for analysis.

With this, a number of people remain in custody at Sigatoka Police station and charges are expected to be laid once analysis report is received.

Police Spokesperson, Atunaisa Sokomuri confirmed this morning the estimated street value of the confiscated marijuana plants so far stands around seventy million dollars.

He added more raids are expected by joint Police and Military operations this week as their aim is to eradicate marijuana cultivation.

Meanwhile, Police are expected to question the Turaga-Ni Koro of Vatubalavu in Navosa in relation to the alleged cultivation of Marijuana. They believe the Turaga-Ni Koro has knowledge of the those involved.
