11 tonnes of marijuana confiscated
Close to 11 tonnes of marijuana plants were confiscated in the last few days from the highlands of Navosa, which now sits at the Keyasi Police Station.
The samples have been sent to Koronivia Research station for analysis.
Police Spokesperson Atunaisa Sokomuri confirms more raids are expected by joint Police and Military operations this week as their aim is to eradicate marijuana cultivation.
Police are also expected to question the Turaga Ni Koro of Vatubalavu in Navosa in relation to the alleged cultivation of Marijuana. They believe the Turaga Ni Koro has knowledge of the involved.
Meanwhile, three villagers of Tamavua-i-Wai are in police custody for allegedly robbing the BP Service Station in Nabua yesterday.
Three masked men armed with cane knives and pinch bars smashed the glass and entered the service station before stealing cash, cigarettes, recharge cards and other items.
Officers from the strike back team, Ready action force and CID gave chase in six police vehicles and apprehended them in Namadi.
They are expected to be charged later today.
