About 11 sporting bodies have applied to have an overseas coach.
This was revealed by Fiji Sports Commission chairman Peter Mazey.
Mazey said these sporting bodies have not specified whom they want.
Mazey added these sporting bodies include rugby, netball, volleyball, boxing, table tennis, rugby league, athletics, swimming and basketball.
The local sporting bodies are applying for funding after the government announced an allocation of $2 million for the “Engagement of Overseas Coaches Program” in the 2014 National Budget to recruit international coaches to help develop Fijian athletes and improve Fiji’s international and regional rankings.
