Police are now questioning 11 people for allegedly holding a protest outside the Chinese Embassy at Queen Elizabeth Drive in Suva today.

Assistant Police PRO Corporal Jo Weicavu said these people were protesting against China's action on Tibet and their protest was considered as an unlawful assembly.

The Coordinator of Women's Crisis Centre Shamima Ali confirmed to Legend FM news that she was also been arrested along with members from other women’s organisations, The Fiji Women’s Rights Movement and Femlink. The lawyers representing the women are now at the Central Police Station.

It is believed the protestors claim to be a Tibet Peace Vigil group.

Meanwhile, the Citizens Constitutional forum Executive is calling on the police to immediately release the protestors as they were holding a peaceful vigil.
